Sentimentor vs TradingView.

Both combine charting, screening, AI research and strategy testing. Sentimentor connects these with PineNode validation, reusable research workflows and eligible Alpaca Paper runners. TradingView brings a mature Pine Script community, broad charting and broker ecosystem, and native AI Copilot. Published by Sentimentor; the comparison uses official documentation and implementation evidence, not tested equivalence of live provider entitlements.

TL;DR

Pick TradingView if…
  • • You need live broker integrations or a broker other than Alpaca Paper
  • • You've invested years in a Pine Script library you don't want to port
  • • You value the established community and third-party script ecosystem
  • • You want Supercharts, Pine Script, Strategy Tester and the optional native AI Copilot together
Pick Sentimentor if…
  • • You want a multi-asset charting suite and AI research terminal in the same workspace
  • • You want options activity, off-exchange and sentiment evidence with explicit coverage limits
  • • You care about backtest rigor — rolling validation, embargoes, a one-time final lockbox, recorded-trial adjustment and Monte Carlo
  • • You want every strategy to ship with a public /verify proof URL you can share
  • • You want research, validation and Alpaca Paper broker execution in one workflow
  • • You prefer to compare the actual plan, data and AI allowances you will use

Compare the setup you will actually use.

Sentimentor Pro is $29.99/month, billed monthly. Check plan limits and data coverage. TradingView cost depends on its base plan, optional AI Copilot and the exchanges needed. Professional and non-professional eligibility, regional currency, broker-linked data and annual billing can change the total. Exchange packages have their own eligibility and pricing; third-party services are not assumed.

AI Copilot is a separate paid add-on for paid TradingView plans on web and desktop. It supports research, screening, chart actions, Pine generation and backtest analysis. Compare those capabilities with Augur and Sentimentor workflows on the specific tasks you need, rather than treating TradingView as charts without AI.

Strategy engine: PineNode vs Pine Script

Both platforms let you write custom strategies. TradingView uses Pine Script v6, a purpose-built DSL that runs on their backend. Sentimentor uses PineNode, a typed JavaScript DSL that runs client-side in a sandbox for the backtest and server-side for live signals. The same Golden Cross strategy in both:

TradingView — Pine Script v6
//@version=6
strategy("Golden Cross", overlay=true)

fast = ta.ema(close, 50)
slow = ta.ema(close, 200)

longCondition = ta.crossover(fast, slow)
if (longCondition)
    strategy.entry("Long", strategy.long)

shortCondition = ta.crossunder(fast, slow)
if (shortCondition)
    strategy.close("Long")
Sentimentor — PineNode
const fast = new EMA(50);
const slow = new EMA(200);

pn
  .name('Golden Cross')
  .onBar(({ series, buy, sell, crossOver, crossUnder }) => {
    fast.next(series);
    slow.next(series);

    if (crossOver(fast, slow)) buy('Golden cross');
    if (crossUnder(fast, slow)) sell('Death cross');
  });
  • • PineNode is TypeScript-typed: your editor autocompletes every indicator + method. Pine Script also has a type system, including types and qualifiers; choose the language and tooling that fit your workflow.
  • • Import your Pine Script: our transpiler converts a documented Pine v3-v6 subset to PineNode and flags incompatible semantics. See the docs.
  • • Runs locally offline: the @sentimentor/pinenode CLI backtests without a Sentimentor account. Pine Script only runs on TradingView servers.
  • • Every run is verifiable: select "Verify" and get a public URL anyone can open to re-run the same backtest on the same data.

Backtesting rigor: what "backtest" actually means

TradingView's Strategy Tester includes trade and performance reports, cost settings and a broker emulator; supported deep-backtesting scope depends on plan. Copilot can analyze its results. Sentimentor's validation flow separates discovery, rolling validation and a final lockbox, reports the recorded candidate count, applies a trial-adjusted Sharpe threshold, and runs a 2,000-path Monte Carlo simulation. The distinction matters because a naive equity curve is easy to overfit.

TradingView Strategy Tester
  • • Historical strategy simulation; define the evaluation periods explicitly
  • • Trade and performance reports
  • • Configurable slippage and commission
  • • Inspect period choices and out-of-sample design
  • • Assess any resampling or robustness process you add
  • • Server-side strategy alerts can follow realtime broker-emulator fills
Sentimentor /verify
  • • Three chronological validation folds plus an embargoed, one-time final lockbox for the frozen configuration
  • • Recorded trial count + trial-adjusted Sharpe confidence
  • • 2,000-path trade-bootstrap Monte Carlo downside range
  • • Realistic slippage (1 bp default), commission, borrow costs
  • • Verdict headline: "would have made X% with Y% hit rate over N trades"
  • • Public shareable URL — anyone can re-run on the same data
  • • Runs client-side or via pinenode CLI

Try it yourself — the /verify page is free and doesn't require a login.

Questions people ask before switching

Does TradingView have native AI research and server-side strategy alerts?▾

Yes. AI Copilot is a separate paid add-on with research, screening, chart actions, Pine generation and backtest analysis. TradingView strategy alerts run a server-side copy independently of the browser. Sentimentor combines Augur, charts, PineNode testing and reusable scheduled research; compare these paths by task and plan rather than claiming TradingView lacks AI or server monitoring.

Can I import my TradingView Pine Scripts into Sentimentor?▾

Yes — our PineNode transpiler converts a documented Pine v3-v6 subset automatically. Unsupported language, multi-timeframe, and broker-emulator semantics are flagged for manual review. See the PineNode docs for the compatibility list.

Is Sentimentor cheaper for my workflow?▾

Sentimentor Pro is $29.99/month, billed monthly. TradingView totals depend on the plan, optional AI Copilot, required exchange feeds and subscriber eligibility. Compare the features, quotas, billing term and data coverage you actually need; no universal savings or feature-equivalent total is established here.

What does TradingView do better than Sentimentor?▾

Three things, honestly. (1) Live broker breadth — TradingView connects to multiple brokers for live trading; Sentimentor is broker-integrated today through Alpaca Paper only. Live-money trading is planned for December 2026, with additional brokers to follow. (2) Alpaca Paper execution is limited to long-only US-equity runners; exploratory runs stay explicitly exploratory, while validated evidence requires a matching protocol pass. (3) Community — TradingView's public indicator/strategy marketplace has years of head-start. If any of those is a dealbreaker, stay on TradingView.

Do I have to give up my TradingView charts to try Sentimentor?▾

No — /verify is free and doesn't need an account. Paste a strategy or pick a template, get a shareable proof URL. You can evaluate both tools side-by-side before changing your workflow.

How is the /verify page different from TradingView's Strategy Tester?▾

TradingView's Strategy Tester includes historical simulations, trade reports, cost settings and broker-emulator assumptions. /verify adds a 2,000-path trade-bootstrap Monte Carlo distribution and a public URL for the same historical definition. It does not turn a backtest into a forecast. PineNode separately freezes the exact configuration and runs discovery, three chronological validation folds, embargo gaps and one final lockbox with a recorded-trial adjustment before live use, regardless of origin.

Inspect a historical strategy test — no login required.

Paste a setup or pick a template. We run a historical test plus Monte Carlo on market bars and hand you a shareable URL. The best way to see the difference is to run one.
