Charting suite documentation

Charts & Drawing Toolbar

Overview

Sentimentor is a multi-asset charting suite as well as a research terminal. Its chart workspace includes 25 chart types, 175+ technical indicators, intraday-through-monthly intervals, multi-pane analysis, up to three-chart layouts, comparison overlays, bar replay, full-screen mode and chart snapshots across stocks, ETFs, crypto, forex, futures and indices.

The chart drawing toolbar adds manual technical analysis, Augur-assisted proposals, historical validation, confluence scoring, trade planning, drawing alerts, event context, annotations, and object management. Drawings use chart time and price anchors so they follow market data while you pan, zoom, change compatible intervals, or load older history.

tip
Hover over a toolbar icon to see its name. Click it to open that category, then select a tool from the flyout.

Quickstart

  1. Open a symbol chart and choose a category on the left drawing rail.
  2. Select a drawing, such as Trendline, Rectangle, or Risk/Reward Box.
  3. Click the chart to place each required anchor. A live preview follows the pointer.
  4. Press Enter or double-click to complete multi-point tools. Press Escape to cancel.
  5. Select the completed drawing to edit its anchors, appearance, alerts, visibility, or order.

Smart snapping

Tools marked with a magnet badge can attach anchors to nearby candle OHLC values and other eligible chart values. Snapping is active while creating a drawing and while dragging a selected endpoint.

  1. Enable the magnet icon in the utility group.
  2. Select a magnet-enabled tool.
  3. Move near a candle high, low, open, or close. The candidate is identified on the chart.
  4. Click the candidate to place or move the active anchor directly onto it.
tip
Alt temporarily disables snapping. Shift constrains a segment to 45-degree increments.

Ask Augur to Draw

Your instruction is sent through Augur, which interprets the natural-language intent before the chart proposes structures from its loaded data. Each submission consumes one Augur message under the limits of your current plan.

  1. Open the sparkle icon at the top of the drawing rail.
  2. Enter an instruction such as “Draw the dominant channel,” “Mark support and resistance,” or “Find the latest head and shoulders pattern.”
  3. Select Suggest.
  4. Review Augur’s proposed objects and rationale.
  5. Select Accept all to add them, or Reject to discard them.
warn
Augur drawing results are analytical drafts. Confirm their anchors and market relevance before using them in a decision.

Selecting and editing

  • Click a drawing body to select and move the complete object.
  • Drag an endpoint or control handle to reshape it.
  • Use the floating toolbar for color, width, visibility, settings, lock, duplicate, delete, and additional actions.
  • Locked objects remain visible but cannot be moved accidentally.
  • Undo and redo cover creation, deletion, movement, property changes, and visual ordering.

Drawing inspector

Open the stacked-layers icon to manage every chart drawing in one place. The panel opens upward so its rows remain visible near the bottom of the chart.

  • Search by drawing name, group, or author.
  • Filter by drawing type.
  • Rename, select, hide, lock, duplicate, reorder, or delete an object from one row.
  • Drag rows or use Visual order to bring forward, send backward, bring to front, or send to back.
  • Multi-select objects to group, align, distribute, lock, or delete them together.

Historical validation and confluence

Validation evaluates a selected drawing as a price structure across the history currently loaded in the chart. Sloped drawings are tested at their projected price on each bar instead of being treated as horizontal levels.

  1. Open the stacked-layers Drawing inspector.
  2. Find the drawing and open its overflow menu.
  3. Select Validate.
  4. Review prior touches, breaks, false breakouts, historical hold rate, and average subsequent return.
  5. Review the 0–100 confluence strength score, which combines historical interactions, nearby chart evidence, volume context, breakout quality, and attached events available to the chart.
warn
Validation summarizes the loaded sample. It is evidence for review, not a forecast or guarantee of future performance.

Drawing-based alerts

A drawing can become a monitored market condition rather than a static annotation. From a drawing’s overflow menu, choose Alert on cross to create a background alert tied to that object and symbol.

  • Drawing alert metadata remains attached to the drawing.
  • The corresponding price alert is registered with the alert service so it can be evaluated while another symbol is open.
  • Supported frequency data includes once, once per bar, once per close, and recurring behavior where exposed by the alert editor.
  • Edit or remove the generated alert from the chart alert marker or alerts panel.

Advanced trade planning and PineNode

The Risk/Reward Box is an interactive position planner. Changing entry, stop, or R:R recalculates the reward region and trade math instead of leaving the geometry behind.

  1. Select Risk/Reward Box and place entry and stop anchors.
  2. Open settings and configure R:R, account size, risk per trade, fees, slippage, expected win rate, trailing stop, and partial targets.
  3. Review position size, monetary risk, projected reward, estimated costs, and expected value on the drawing.
  4. Open the Drawing inspector, expand the object menu, and choose Copy strategy.
  5. Paste the generated editable logic into PineNode and refine its conditions before running a backtest.

Scenarios, events, and collaboration

The inspector can turn a drawing into a structured research object rather than a loose mark on a canvas.

  • Add thesis records the reasoning associated with a level or setup.
  • Add scenario stores bullish, neutral, or bearish branches with probability and outcome state.
  • Attach event links news or another market event to the drawing for later review.
  • Comment adds discussion or mentions to the analysis object.
  • Rename and group related drawings, then save the complete drawing set as a reusable analysis layout.

Worked examples

Trendline snapped to candle lows

  1. Select Lines & Channels → Trendline.
  2. Place the first anchor on a confirmed swing low.
  3. Move to a later swing low and select its Low snap target.
  4. Extend or alert the line from its settings.

Risk/reward trade plan

  1. Select Market tools → Risk/Reward Box.
  2. Place entry and stop anchors.
  3. Choose the R:R ratio, account size, and risk per trade.
  4. The target area, position size, risk, and reward recalculate from the anchors.

Validate a support line

  1. Select the support drawing in the Drawing inspector.
  2. Open its overflow menu and select Validate.
  3. Compare prior touches with breaks and false breakouts.
  4. Use the hold rate, subsequent return, and confluence score as supporting evidence.

Highlight a session

  1. Select Market tools → Session Highlighter.
  2. Choose or place the session range.
  3. Use Visual order → Send to back so price remains unobstructed.
  4. Lock the highlight to preserve chart dragging.

Saving and persistence

Drawings are stored by timestamp and price rather than screen position. They persist through compatible timeframe changes, zooming, panning, historical loading, and live price updates. Use the disk icon to save or load a named drawing set. Saved sets can be reapplied with their original geometry or re-anchored to another chart.

note
Interval visibility can be configured per drawing. A drawing outside the loaded time range remains stored and reappears when that range is visible.

Troubleshooting

  • No snap target: confirm the magnet is enabled, use a supported tool, and move close to an eligible value.
  • Cannot drag the chart: deselect or lock a large background drawing; background objects should not intercept chart panning.
  • Drawing appears missing: check interval visibility, the inspector visibility icon, and the loaded historical range.
  • Augur returns no proposal: ensure enough history is loaded, clarify the requested structure, and confirm your plan still has Augur messages available.
